Key to Type of Delivery

Distance education has several meanings at The University Center at Ponca City.

The following list will help you interpret how the instruction for each class will be delivered:

ITV-Interactive Television You attend class at the University Center and watch a live broadcast of the instructor teaching from another campus. You can see, hear, and talk to the instructor and they can see, hear, and talk to you.
On-Site Instruction You attend class at the University Center where there is a faculty member from the delivering university teaching the class.
Telecourse Instruction is provided through an OETA television broadcast. It may be viewed at the University Center or at home or anywhere you have access to cable. For some courses, you may purchase tapes of the broadcasts instead of watching the televised version. Assignments are provided to you and you complete your work on your own. The University Center will be glad to proctor tests for you, but you must call in advance to schedule them. You may be required to attend an orientation prior to the class starting. (Note: Not all Tele-Courses are covered by Pell Grants.)
On-Line (also called Internet or Web-based Instruction) You log-on to the website from anywhere that you have access to Internet. Assignments are presented online. The University Center can proctor tests at no charge, but you must schedule them in advance. You are also welcome to use the University Center Computer Lab. (Note: Not all Internet classes are covered by Pell Grants).
Independent Study This option also provides maximum flexibility since you may complete the coursework anytime, anywhere. This instruction is similar to traditional correspondence study classes. You are mailed assignments that will be completed after reading the text assignments. You are welcome to use the University Center Computer Lab and the University Center will be glad to proctor tests as scheduled. (Note: Not all Independent Study classes are covered by Pell Grants.)
On Campus You must attend class at another campus.
Other Flexible Options Courses are listed that are provided at other campuses (NOT at the University Center) but at times that might be convenient for working adults. For example, a course that runs all day for 5 Saturdays or a one-week seminar. These are offered for your information and are options that you might not find out about otherwise.

Some degree programs and classes are
