New Elementary Education Programs Under
Development

UCO Elementary Education Cohort Group
If 15 students who have been admitted to Teacher Education at UCO
are ready to begin an Elementary Education Degree program by Fall 2003,
UCO will design a Ponca City Cohort Program where students would go
through the classes together. Approximately 1/3 of the
courses would be taken at University Center, 1/3 at UCO and 1/3 would be a combination.
Elementary Education and Early Childhood
Program
The University Center is working with another four-year Oklahoma institution to develop
a program that would begin as a traditional daytime program with some
courses offered at night. Approximately 15 credit hours of course work
would be delivered by ITV or live instruction each semester at the University Center.
You would select what you want to take and move at your own pace. This
program could possibly move toward an increased number of non-traditional
course offerings at night, Saturdays, etc. This program would begin Fall
2003. Courses for both Elementary Education and Early Childhood would be
delivered.
Early Childhood Program (with ability to
also earn Elementary Education certification)
The University Center is working with a private Oklahoma institution to develop a
non-traditional evening Early Childhood program. Classes for this 16-month
program would meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 pm. Coursework would
be completed in approximately 12 months
plus Student Teaching. The program could begin anytime that 12 people who
have passed the OGET test are ready to begin. It does not even have to be
at the beginning of a semester. Instruction would be delivered at the University Center
by faculty. Since this program would be delivered by a private
institution, the tuition would be greater than most University Center degree programs,
but financing options would be available.

If you are interested in any of these three Elementary
Education/Early Childhood Programs,
please call the University Center at 762-2856 to
reserve your spot!
